Climate Cities India

A workshop series by the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), University of Oxford, and the Centre for the Advanced Study of India (CASI), University of Pennsylvania.

India’s cities are at the forefront of climate change. From rising heat and flooding to air pollution and resource stress, urban centres face growing challenges that shape the future of millions of people. At the same time, Indian cities are becoming key sites of climate action, developing ambitious targets and adaptation measures.

The Cities and Climate Change in India workshop series brings together academics, policymakers, and practitioners across disciplinary boundaries to critically examine the emerging forms of climate politics in Indian cities and how they intersect with questions of equity, justice, and governance. It has served as a forum for researchers engaged with the complex intersections of India’s urban and environmental transformations. By creating a collaborative platform, the series seeks to generate fresh perspectives, highlight research gaps, and inform more inclusive approaches to climate planning in India.
